We’re born knowing how to eat only when we’re hungry, how to not care what other peoples think about our bad singing and awful dance movement, we know how to play, create, and love without holding back. And, most importantly we know how to trust our instincts. As we grow and learn from the people around us, we started to replace those “real feelings” with negative false beliefs, fear, shame, and self-doubt. Then we caught up in emotional and physical pain.

As we continue to believe these things that aren’t even true for us, our “real feelings” gradually faded away till we reconnect with who we truly are and start exploring what’s true for us. Self-love, the simplest yet most powerful thing ever, getting further away when we start taking in the wrong information.

So, here are some of the best ways you can follow to win over yourself.

  1. Appreciate How Special You Are

Know that there is only one “you” in this entire world. There will never be anyone exactly the same as you. You were born with special gifts and talents to share with the world. Even though everybody has special gifts and talents, nobody will use theirs the same way as you do. You are the only one who thinks your thoughts the way you think them.

2. Pamper Yourself with Affirmations

If you want to win over yourself, you need to rewire your brain and train it to think differently. And this is what affirmations can do for you. You don’t have to say them in front of the mirror or buy yourself a rainbow journal with a lock on it to write them down, just pat yourself on the back and say out the affirmation. You can hug yourself if you want to. Figure out which affirmations you need to hear the most and repeat them all day long in your head whether you’re walking down the street or in the car.

3. Do Things You Love

We’re all busy, but it’s the people who make time to enjoy their lives. It can be spending a weekday lunchtime with great friends to quitting your hateful job to buying a pair of new boots for your trip to the UK which you probably won’t wear after this. It’s about being proactive about creating a life you love instead of quietly living the one you think you’re stuck with. Take some time to rediscover what you enjoy doing and make time for it. Give yourself the gift of a joyous life while you’re still among the living.

4. Replace Negative Reactions

If every time you look at your belly and react “yikes”, make an effort to change it to “cute” or “gorgeous”. Yes, this might sound ridiculous and weird at first but once you get used to it, you’ll realize how it changed your mind. The most important thing is to free yourself from drama and self-criticism. Do not spend time clinging to the insulting decisions you’ve made about yourself. Instead, make the conscious choice to replace them with positive ones.

5. Love Your Body

When you run around doing all the busy works all week long, your poor body is often the first thing you get overlooked. Take care of your body and appreciate what it did for you unconsciously. Give compliments to your body and say thank you for enduring the difficult time. Say nice things about your body, dress it up, and take it out. Give it hot sex, luxurious baths, and massages. Move it, stretch it, nourish it and pay attention to it. The better our bodies feel, the happier and more productive we are.

6. Don’t Compare Yourself to Others

It’s totally none of your business what someone achieved in their life, where they’ve been for this summer vacation, or how their life seems perfect. All that matters is that you’re enjoying and pleased with what you’re doing. Comparison is the fastest way to take all of the fun out of life. Know that you are unique in your own way and that’s your secret power.

7. Forgive Yourself

So, you screwed up a presentation at work today. You blamed, feeling guilty and bad about yourself. You are definitely not alone. Everyone is born with the ability to make mistakes throughout their lives. Everyone screwed up in their past more than once. And will screw up again in the future. Get over it and move on. Dragging around past mistakes with guilt and self-criticism is pointless. Guilt, shame and self-criticism are some of the destructive forces in your life. If you want to have a great life, you have to first learn to forgive yourself.

8. Love Yourself

You are unique, you are special and no one in this world can be the same as you. Your thoughts, your actions, your talents belonged to you. You are your own creator. Love yourself and create a life you want because there is no other “you” and you have the ability to change it. Just believe and have fate in yourself.
